Applying simple dynamic modelling for decision support in planning regional health care
Article Abstract:
A simple dynamic model was formulated to illustrate decision making support in planning regional health care. The model takes into consideration two assumptions validated by highly reliable data from collective nursing homes of The Hague, Netherlands' health care region. The first assumption involves the indication period being constant while the second assumption approximates the number of reneging people with a constant fraction. The model illustrates the dynamics of waiting for nursing homes.

Evaluating physician efficiency in hospitals: a multivariate analysis of best practices
Article Abstract:
The rise in hospital costs, the quantity of resources used to care for patients and the inefficient decision-making on resource utilization among physicians have made the analysis of physician efficiency in hospitals a major concern for medical care researchers and hospital managers. Data en-velopment analysis is used to analyze physician efficiency. Key elements in the efficient use of clinical resources in providing hospital services were identified.

On the relative efficiency of alternative modes of producing a public sector output: the case of the developmentally disabled
Article Abstract:
The efficiency of alternative approaches to providing care for the developmentally disabled is investigated using linear programming. Production set boundaries are constructed to provide for measuring the relative efficiency among institutions. Results indicate that family homes are more efficient than group homes. Analysis of slack variables indicate the use of outside professionals by family homes.
