Arcuk future in the balance
Article Abstract:
The future of Arcuk is in doubt because of differeing views given in evidence to a government review on architect's registration. The Royal Institute of Chartered Surveys would like registration abolished, believing that statutory registration is a restrictive practice. The unattached group of architects, representing about 8,000 architects, thinks that there should be registration and that it should be through Arcuk. It would like the public and architects to have equal representation on the Arcuk Council. Arcuk believes it should continue but with a smaller council.

Bridging the Atlantic
Article Abstract:
Both UK and USA architect governing bodies must come to a formal arrangement regarding the testing of visiting architects to practise in either country. USA and UK architects are required to pass a test established by the Architects Registration Exam before they are allowed to practise. This system puts both countries at a disadvantage when it comes to encouraging work by foreigners, whereas European architects do not face such a limitation on their working.
