Argentina to force pace on Yacyreta
Article Abstract:
There will be three phases involved in the privatization of hydroelectric plant Yacyreta, according to Argentinian Energy Secretary Alfredo Mirkin. The first will see the completion of construction of the 76 mt high dam, at a cost of $116 million. The second phase will involve funding the cost of raising the height of the dam from the private sector, while the third will see the issue of a tender for a private concern to operate and maintain the facility. The Argentinian government also wishes to press ahead with the privatization of the nuclear sector.

Nuclear Electric prepares for sale
Article Abstract:
Nuclear Electric will be privatized by the UK government. The company is to be broken up prior to the operation. BZW may be excluded from providing advice to the government on this privatization since it was previously involved with the PowerGen and National Power share sale. A public relations firm is likely to be taken on for the privatization, and candidates include Citigate and Brunswick. Scottish Nuclear will be sold with Nuclear Electric as a single company.

Nuclear Electric given the go-ahead
Article Abstract:
The UK government plans to privatize the nuclear power industry, setting up a new company from Nuclear Electric and Scottish Nuclear. A holding company will be used to ensure the two companies are preserved. The UK public sector will retain the Magnox stations due to large liabilities involved. Liabilities for the modern stations to be sold will be transferred to the new owners. Nuclear power was excluded from the UK electricity privatization program in 1989.
