Learning to love the banks
Article Abstract:
A survey has shown that the number of businesses pleased with the service they receive from their bank has increased from 53% in 1995 to 77%. They think the bank understands their needs and will lend more money if necessary. National Westminster Bank has about 25.5% of the small business accounts but has said that it will be more conservative about lending in the future. Most small businesses use only one bank but 20% are thinking of using more than one to encourage competition and better service. European banks are becoming interested in capturing a share of the corporate market.

Article Abstract:
A survey by MeesPierson, a bank, has found that many companies would consider changing their banks and bank manager are not seen as the main source of business advice. The majority of respondents felt that their current bank offers suitable products and services for industry. The survey found that only 30% of companies use medium term loans, with only 20% using long term loans, and the majority of companies believed that there is an over-reliance on overdraft.
