Argentina's effect on Asia
Article Abstract:
The financial crisis in Argentina will likely have little effect on Asia, since the high-yield bond market in Asia is quite small and investment grade bonds are always attractive in Asia. Argentina's problems may affect the Philippines, which, like Argentina, has a high budget deficit, but most of the problems stem from the Philippines, not from abroad. Hong Kong, like Argentina, pegs its currency to the United States dollar, but there is some concern about how long that relation can be maintained.
