Argentine health-care reform lures U.S. firms
Article Abstract:
The overhaul of Argentina's health care market is attracting US firms, such as Aetna Inc.'s Aetna International unit, which has signed a nonbinding letter of intent to acquire 49% of Asistencia Medica Social Argentina SA. International Medical Group Latin America Inc. of Boca Raton, FL, also now handles a novel cooperative of eight small unions which have consolidated their health care systems. Argentina is certain to attract attention because it spends more on health per capita. The company also has plenty of medical services, with approximately 500 separate health-insurance programs.
