Arroyo promises a new push for old plans

Philippines president Gloria Macapagal Arroyo hopes to stimulate her country's economy by pursuing a program of privatizations, increasing tax collections, and stimulating capital markets. The government also plans action against extremists and gangs that have incited fear in the business community and scared away tourists. Other actions demanded by the international community to enforce foreign exchange regulations will also be implemented.
