US Army selects LAV III as Interim Armored Vehicle
Article Abstract:
GM GDLS Defense Group has been awarded an initial contract by the US Army's Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command valued at $61.7 million for research, development, test and evaluation, along with about $580 million for the supply of 366 production vehicles. The company's LAV III has been selected by the Army as its Interim Armored Vehicle to equip as many as six Brigade Combat Teams that would involve a total of 2,131 vehicles. GM GDLS Defense Group is a limited liability company created by General Motors and General Dynamics Land Systems.

US plans replenishment of satellites in orbit
Article Abstract:
The US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency has given three contracts valued at around $6 million each for 14-month concept definition studies of the Orbital Express Operations Architecture. This would enable satellites to be refueled, serviced and upgraded in orbit. Conducted by leading teams that include Boeing Co, Sanders, a Lockheed Martin Co, and Spectrum Astro Inc, the preliminary studies cover designing non- proprietary interfaces for the transfer of fluids and hardware.
