What's in a label?
Article Abstract:
Food labels are required by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to give consumers nutritional information about packaged foods. Naomi Kulakow, educational coordinator for the FDA, answers some common questions about food labels. Kulakow points out that the labels focus on general categories of nutrients that consumers are most interested in; fat, fiber, calories, protein, carbohydrates and cholesterol.
