In 1987, 1000,00 small US businesses shipped 29% of the total exports, equaling $69 billion. Since them the figures have climbed. The state of Vermont alone saw its exports rise from $1 billion in 1988 to $4 billion in 1993. Various anecdotes about the tiny US exporters are presented.
