Athens airport fires up for action
Article Abstract:
The Athens Airport will havve a total of 28 fire fighting vehicles once it opens in 2002 for the 2004 Olympic Games. The airport's general contractor, Hochtief of Germany, has given the contract for the vehicles, valued at 7.27 million, or US$6.9 million, to Rosenbauer International of Germany. The 28 vehicles, including seven Panther 8x8 air crash tenders have already been delivered by Jul 2000, to provide full fire protection for the start of airport operations at the beginning of 2001.

Private interest in India
Article Abstract:
India appears committed to airport privatization, with five airport privatization projects in the pipeline. One of the projects is the proposed Cochin International Airport in Kerala, which is primarily a private initiative with little government backing. Phase one of the new greenfield airport is estimated to cost Rs2,300 million ($54.2 million) and is expected to be finished in 1999.
