The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development's president Jacques Attali is under fire for mismanagement and the Group of Seven finance ministers governing the bank are not pleased. Attali could be replaced if the results of a special audit are not satisfactory.

Attali's impractical plans for the EBRD have been opposed by shareholders. Attali had proposed that the bank make low-interest loans and equity stakes to help put the ex-Soviet Union's military industries to civilian use.
