Australia moves into rail
Article Abstract:
Australian railroads are moving into the private sector through privatization and private finance. The trams of Melbourne and the freight and passenger operations of Victoria's Public Transport Commission are the latest railroads that have sold on the continent. A national rail freight network is under construction because the rail infrastructure in the country is not adequate.

Railtrack priced to go
Article Abstract:
More than 650,000 investors took up the share offer in Railtrack of the UK, a rail infrastructure company. The retail offer was three times subscribed even though the government increased the tranche available. It is believed that 60% of subscribers to the institutional offer were UK institutions.
