Australia's Ninox program pioneers new technologies
Article Abstract:
Racal Australia and Pilkington Optronics have each received a contract from the Australian Defence Force (ADF) under the Ninox program. Racal has been awarded a $33.5-million contract by the ADF to supply 51 units of the Australian Manportable Surveillance and Target Acquisition Radar. For its part, Pilkington is to provide 168 examples of its Tasman design under a contract valued at about $27 million. The Ninox program aims to equip the ADF with a family of the latest intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance sensors.

Turkish direction-finding system expands its reach
Article Abstract:
ASELSAN has started the export marketing of its transportable VHF/UHF interferometric direction-finding system, called the DFINT-3T. The DFINT- 3T has a direction-finding accuracy of better than 2 degrees root mean square and line-of-bearing resolution of 0.1 degree over the frequency range 20-1,200 MHz. Its scan rate enables it to intercept and measure the line-of-bearings of frequency-hopping radios and burst transmissions. Potential customers for the equipment are the Philippines and Malaysia.

Russian mission system for maritime-partol aircraft
Article Abstract:
St Petersburg, Russia-based Leninetz and the Scientific Research Institute of System Engineering, also in St Petersburg, have developed the Fagot, a mission system designed for a maritime-patrol version of the Ilyushin Il- 114 twin-turboprop airliner. The Fagot mission system comprises of a Strizh surveillance radar, an infrared linescanner and two or more operator workstations.
