Australia's 'sleeper' index
Article Abstract:
The Australian biotechnology sector should be attractive to investors willing to shoulder some risk. Companies such as ResMed, CSL, and Cochlear have helped the S&P/ASX 200 Healthcare and Biotechnology Index outpace its American rival, the Amex Biotechnology Index, with a 2% gain in 2001 compared to a 14% loss for the American index. Genesis Research and Development's advanced-development stage antipsoriasis drug could make the company a stock market success.
