Avoiding failures in flight information displays
Article Abstract:
Airports and airlines typically share a central database, from which some of the information are presented on flight information display systems. The integrity of this airport information technology infrastructure depends on the reliability of the communications backbone, which, however, is not directly under the control of either the airline or the airport. The communications backbone, if not Y2K compliant, represents the weakest link during the rollover to the next millennium.
