BAA shares rise as sales stop sliding

BAA PLC saw its share value increase after its retail sales stopped falling. The company's retail sales have been dropping due to the elimination of duty-free shopping in the European Union (EU). BAA posted pretax profits of 306 million pound sterling during the six months ending on September 30, 1999. This is compared to 307 million pound sterling in 1998.
