BAG PLANS FORAYS INTO INDIAN POWER SECTOR
Article Abstract:
Bayernwerk AG of Germany has entered the Indian power sector. It is currently working on four major projects in India. It is finalising a joint venture with S Kumars for a 400 mw hydro- electric power station in Madhya Pradesh. It is also negotiating with a leading civil contractor for setting up a 300 mw and a 400 mw power station in two states in North India. The company aims to finalise joint ventures for the two North Indian power projects by May 1999. The fourth project will be taken up later. The company is open for a joint venture for this project. TRACTABEL TO PUMP $820 M INTO INDIAN UNIT
Article Abstract:
The Tractabel group of Belgium has applied to the government of India for investing $820 million in the country over the next eight years. Tractabel has set up its fully-owned subsidiary, Tractabel Energy South Asia Ltd with an equity of Rs1 crore in June 1997. The Belgian group plans to focus on South Asia and targets to generate 100 mw in India by 1999. It plans to add one project each year and contribute 200 mw per annum from 2000 AD. It proposes to start consultancy, management and insurance businesses in India. (rk)
