BAX TO FOCUS ON LOGISTICS SECTOR IN INDIA
Article Abstract:
The Rs180-crore Bax Global India Ltd (BGIL), a subsidiary of Burlington Air Express (BAX) Global Inc, has identified logistics sector in India as a potential growth sector to make its entry in India. BAX has recently acquired Overseas Cargo Services India Pvt Ltd (OCSI) of Delhi. OCSI is involved in customs clearance business. BAX is seeking similar licence to operate in Bangalore and Mumbai. BGIL intends to offer its warehousing facilities to non-metro industrial sector. BGIL's main focus will be on inventory management, product customisation and setting up distribution centres. (gs)

NGEF PUBLIC OFFER FOR DIVESTMENT YET TO TAKE OFF
Article Abstract:
The government's proposal to divest its 51 percent stake in the sick public sector unit, NGEF by the end of March 1999 may not materialise. There has been no notification by the government calling for bids. This was to have been completed by August 1998. NGEF posted a loss of Rs18 crore on a turnover of Rs173 crore in 1997-98. Currently only the motors and transformers division have posted profits while the power engineering division is yet to post profits. (uh)
