BG restructuring entails bond issue, holding company

BG PLC revealed additional information about its planned corporate and financial restructuring. The restructuring is intended to increase BG's capital efficiency at its Transco gas-pipelines subsidiary. The group announced that it would submit the restructuring details to its shareholders for approval in November 1999. Under the restructuring, a new holding company called BG Group will be formed.

Bankers Trust pays 56.3 million euros fine in funds diversion

Bankers Trust Co. has been ordered to pay a fine of $60 million (56.3 million euros) by a federal judge in New York. Bankers Trust is being fined as part of a settlement for charges that the company attempted to transfer unclaimed customer funds into its accounts. The fine was agreed on between Bankers Trust and government prosecutors. US District Judge John G. Koeltl approved the fine.
