BHARAT COCA-COLA CAPS BOTTLING DEAL WITH THREE COs IN ANDHRA

Bharat Coca-Cola South East Limited (BCCSEL) has acquired Hyderabad Bottling Company, Spectra Bottling Company at Secunderabad and Annapurna Bottling Company at Nandyal. BCCSEL is a subsidiary of Coca-Cola India Limited. It is holding talks with Model Bottling Company, (Guntur), Vizag Bottling Company (Visakhapatnam), Vijayawada Bottling Company (Vijayawada) and Pinakini Bottling Company (Nellore). It is likely to buy these units by September 1998. It is likely to take over two more bottling units of Sarvaraya Bottling Company located in Khammam and the East Godavari districts in the next season. (rk)

VBC TO TRANSFER BOTTLING UNIT TO BHARAT COKE

Bharat Coca Cola Bottling South East Pvt Limited is acquiring the bottling business of VBC Industries Limited (VIL). VIL owes about Rs32.31 crore to financial institutions (FIs). The funds raised will be utilised to make a one-time settlement to FIs. VIL's total secured loans is estimated at Rs62.27 crore as on March 31, 1998. It owes Rs12.15 crore to the Industrial Development Bank of India, Rs9 crore to the Industrial Finance Corporation of India and Rs7.08 crore to the Industrial Credit and Investment Corporation of India. The interest accrued on loans is estimated at Rs18.86 crore. (ag)

COKE TO HONOUR COMMITMENTS WITH CADBURY SCHWEPPES

Coca-Cola India (Coke) has agreed to honour all the commitments of Cadbury Schweppes after acquiring the soft-drink brands of the latter. Coca-Cola India will continue to have transactions with all the business partners and bottlers of Cadbury Schweppes even after it acquires the brands of the latter in June 1999. It will also be retaining all the employees of Cadbury Schweppes. (ag/kvr)
