RAIL, UNION BUDGETS IMPOSE Rs60-CR BURDEN ON RINL

The Railway and Union Budgets will place an additional burden of Rs60 crore on Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd due to increased freight and excise charges. The company will incur an additional cost of Rs29 crore on freight due to the 4 percent hike in the railway budget. The company will incur an extra cost of Rs24 crore due to the increase in excise duty from 15 percent to 16 percent and an extra cost of Rs13 crore due to the hike in Customs levies. (khr)

REGULATION OF MOLASSES PRICES SUGGESTED
Article Abstract:
The All India Alcohol-Based Industries Development Association has requested the regulation of molasses prices to avoid volatility and large fluctuations. The prices of molasses are currently quoted at Rs800 per tonne in Maharashtra, Rs1850 per tonne in Gujarat, Rs1400 per tonne in Tamil Nadu and Rs1200 in Uttar Pradesh. The prices of molasses have increased by over 250 percent in the past one year. (khr)
