Baan says chairman will step down

Baan Co., a Dutch software maker, announced that Jan Baan will resign from his position as chairman of the company and its management board so as to clarify the separation between the company and Vanenburg Ventures BV, a company controlled by Mr. Baan and his brother J.G. Paul Baan. Mr. Baan will be nominated for the company's supervisory board and will spend more time with his brother in Vanenburg Ventures. Meanwhile, Baan Co.'s CEO and president, Tom Tinsley, is being nominated to replace Mr. Baan.

Unilever names new chairman; plans dividend

Unilever NV announced that Antony Burgmans will become the new chairman of the company's Dutch wing. Mr. Burgmans will replace Morris Tabaksblat as chairman. Mr. Burgmans was also appointed as Unilever's vice chairman. Unilever is a Anglo-Dutch consumer products giant. Company stockholders also approved a plan to return 16 billion guilders ($7.68 billion) to shareholders by way of a special dividend payment.
