Argentina to accept more debt paper
Article Abstract:
Argentina is to accept payment of up to $6 billion in debt paper for remaining strategic state assets, such as nuclear power stations, petrochemical plants, and hydro-electric dams. It is hoped that the acceptance of debt paper will raise the price of Argentine paper. Sales are expected to include the Yacyreta and Salto Grande hydro electric dams, and minority stakes in GasBan, Gas Pampeana and Transportadora Gas del Norte.

Battle over Argentina's postal service (Empresa Nacional de Correos y Telegrafos)
Article Abstract:
The planned privatisation of Empresa Nacional de Correos y Telegrafos (Encotesa), Argentina's postal service, has attracted considerable debate. Economy minister Domingo Cavallo claims that the bill for the privatisation of Encotesa would directly benefit influential businessman Alfredo Yabran, who is dominant in the country's private postal service. Cavallo has even accused Yabran of bribing congressmen to accept the bill.
