Beckerman takes BMO SVPM job

Michael Beckerman has been appointed senior VP for marketing at Bank of Montreal, replacing George Bothwell. Beckerman will oversee the bank's corporate and product marketing, including advertising, promotion, direct marketing, customer segmentation and brand development. He spent 12 years with Nike on various assignments in the US, Europe and Asia, three years at Canadian Airlines and the last two years at defunct MVP.com. Beckerman said the appointment is a culmination of all his experiences.

Bank of Nova Scotia (Scotiabank) is collaborating with Bell Mobility to offer its clients online banking services through their cellular telephones. Once the service is set up, Scoatiabank's clients will be able to use their mobile phones to check account balances and recent transactions, pay bills and transfer funds anytime, with the help of Bell Mobility's Mobile Browser service.

Called The Scotia Young Investors Fund, it contains businesses in retail, entertainment and technology sectors, such as pepsiCo, Walt Disney, Nokia, Nintendo and America Online.
