The citizens of Belgium believe that the country's political and judicial systems have failed them due to the poor handling of a case involving the death of children by a pedophile. Allegations of political coverups caused about 300,000 people to demonstrate in the streets of Brussels in Oct 1996.

A dam shame
Article Abstract:
Plans for a proposed dam that would enable Laos to export hydro-electric power had to be halted when a front for the army began logging operations in the area where the dam was to be built. Logging was originally banned in an effort to save the Laotian forests.
