Georgian antique furniture is in great demand throughout the Western world but much of it may be being mass-produced and therefore fake. A recent case of fake Georgian furniture being sold at auction by Sotheby's, London has highlighted the need for valuers to be more careful in their identification of genuinely historical articles. Many fake pieces of furniture are also accompanied by fake documentation in a bid to prove the item is genuine.
