Bewag changes tack
Article Abstract:
Plans to sell a 25.8% share of Berlin electricity utility, Bewag, have been slowed following the emergence of new and favourable lines of credit. The city government's share was to be bought by Bankgesellschaft Berlin at a cost of 1.156 billion Deutsche Marks, providing the share was sold on by the year-end. Interested parties include Hamburgische Electricitats-Werke, Bayernwerk, and PreussenElecktra.

Australian electricity sales power on
Article Abstract:
The Australian electricity supply industry that will be privatized during 1998 is worth $30 billion Australian. None of the sales have taken place due to political changes but there are still pressures to sell. There have been concerns about privatization since the power blackouts in Auckland, New Zealand, took place after electricity privatization.

Challenges for future of FSU's power industry
Article Abstract:
Armenia has begun restructuring its electric power industry with assistance from such foreign sources as the International Development Assn. Armenia also plans to rebuild its transmission system and improve its billing practices. Similar measures planned by Georgia, Moldova and other countries of the Former Soviet Union are described.
