Major U.S. airlines, which are coming out of a five-year slump, are having difficulty replacing aging equipment. L arge aircraft manufacturers like Boeing Co. and Airbus S.A.S. are sold out until 2011, and the new single-aisle planes that the carriers prefer have yet to be designed .

Atlantic Coast Airlines to buy more Bombardier Canadair jets

Atlantic Coast Airlines Holdings announced that it has reached an agreement to acquire 20 more Canadair regional jet planes from Bombardier Inc. Atlantic Coast is buying the planes for $430 million (406.9 million euros). The carrier already has 20 other Canadair aircraft. It also has an order for 23 more planes and options on 27 more.
