Wembley plays defensive over Brent cash threats

A war of words has started between Brent Council planning department and the builders of the new-look Wembley football stadium in London, with both sides adamant about the levels of compliance required to get the planning application approved in April 2000. The Wembley consortium believe they have fully complied with all the requirements layed out by Brent Council, including strict crowd dispersal times and infrastructure investments. Brent Council feel they are being pushed into approving the 450 million pounds sterling project against their will.

Bancroft seeks support for Pimlico refurb as row rages on
Article Abstract:
Plans to demolish Pimlico School are being opposed by parents of children at the school, who plan to launch a judicial review of the demolition plans. Home Secretary and parent governor chair Jack Straw has given the go ahead to demolish the school under Westminster City Council's pathfinder PFI project. The original architect of the school is attempting to raise the 14 million pounds sterling required to refurbish the building. English Heritage had recommended the school for a Grade II listing, but this was overruled by Virginia Bottomley, former heritage secretary.

Big names in fight for 600 million pounds sterling 'Elephant' job
Article Abstract:
A 15-year redevelopment project is being commissioned by Southwark Council, London to regenerate the run-down Elephant and Castle area. The privately funded housing and business development project will be started with a grant of 25 million pounds sterling from the council, although the final cost to the private sector is expected to be nearer 600 million pounds sterling. Up to six consortia are reported to be still interested in the project after a further six pulled out.
