Big telecom operators fear breakup by EU

European Union Commissioner Viviane Reding is committed to increasing competition in Europe's telecommunications sector and has announced plans to reform regulations in October 2007. Telecommunications companies are concerned that any resulting divisions will compromise the quality of their networks' infrastructure and customer service capabilities.

EU urges changes to budget rules in bid to cut debt
