Slovnaft Bratislava enters the third millennium
Article Abstract:
Slovnaft (Bratislava, Slovakia), petroleum refining firm, commissioned a new unit in 2000. The unit represent the so-called project EFPA, Environmental Fuel Project Apolo. Due to the project Slovnaft has become one of the most modern refineries in Central Europe. The investment costs on the project were 17 bil Sk, 526 mil USD. The licences of the project's decisive technology come from ABB Lummus Global, UOP, Stratco and IFP (France). The contractor for the firm's fluid catalytic cracking unit was Raytheon (Netherlands) and the contractor for its heavy oil fraction hydro-cracking unit was a joint venture of Fluor Daniel (US) and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (Japan). Slovnaft's processed oil capacity is up to 5.4 mil t of oil per year. The yield of light products is about 90% at the firm currently. The company can extend its petrol production to nearly 500,000 t per year, 52%, its Diesel oil production by 350,000 t per year, 60%. Slovnaft merged with the refinery MOL (Hungary) in April 2000.

The share of CEZ in the production and supplies of electric power in the Czech Republic
Article Abstract:
CEZ (Prague, Czech Republic), power firm, had a 76.4% share on the Czech electric power supply market in 1998 compared to 78.2% in 1997. The volume of CEZ's total sales decreased by 1,845 GWh, 4%, in the Czech Republic in 1998 compared to 1997. The drop of electric power sales on the Czech market influenced CEZ's electric power production, the volume of which decreased by 116 GWh, 0.2%, in 1998 compared to 1997. The drop was compensated by an increase in exports and a decrease in imports. The imports of electric power increased by 18.4%, 691 GWh, and the imports of electric power decreased by 38.9%, 609 GWh, in 1998 compared to 1997. CEZ produced 47,892 GWh of electric power at its sources in 1998.
