Bob Kane
Article Abstract:
Bob Kane created Batman, a cartoon character born in 1939 and perceived by Kane as differing from Superman in his concern for social problems. Batman had no supernatural powers, in contrast to Superman, but was a good athlete using advanced technology. Bill Finger was also an early contributor to the development of Batman, later acknowledged by Kane, though his name did not appear on a cartoon. Batman stories changed over time, with Batman appearing as a camp figure during the 1960s, and later apparently becoming more political.

Article Abstract:
The Canadian parliament could give a reading to a bill geared to curbing the flow of US periodicals into Canada, and this could lead to retaliation. The Canadian magazine industry has been helped by a protective tariff launched in 1956. The World Trade Organization has declared that the tariff is not permissible. Bill C-55 would mean that Canadians would be committing a criminal offense if they bought advertising in magazines that use split-run editions.
