Boom time in Mekong
Article Abstract:
The Mekong sub-region's air transportation industry is enjoying sustained business growth. Air transport in this region, which constitutes the former French Indochina, Yunnan province, China, Thailand and Myanmar, has been flourishing because of the end of the recession in Southeast Asia and a simplication of visa procedures for the region. Furthermore, most of the nations within the region have adopted an open skies, liberal policy and Cambodia has become a member of the Assn of Southeast Asian Nations.

Capacity drives policy reform
Article Abstract:
Europe is experiencing a crucial shift in its airspace policy with the EU's European Commission VP Loyola de Palacio making air traffic management a policy issue as well as the appointment of a new Air Transport director in the Transport Directorate. The developments indicate a commitment by the EU to implement the change process in airspace policy. In 1999, Europe experienced the worst flight delays since 1989, and 2000 is only expected to bring marginal improvements.
