Boris v Yevgeny
Article Abstract:
Russian president, Boris Yeltsin, has sought to dismiss the chief public prosecutor of Russia, Yuri Skuratov, but Russia's upper house, the Federation Council, has blocked this move. Skuratov later offered his resignation to the Federation Council after Yeltsin sought to have him dismissed, and the issue will be discussed on April 21 1999. Skuratov has been investigating the Kremlin real estate management agency and Boris Berezovsky, a former intimate of Yeltsin and a businessman. Prime minister, Yevgeny Primakov, may be seeking to remove Berezovsky from Russian politics as well as ensuring that the political status quo is unchanged.
