Breakfast cereals
Article Abstract:
A review of European markets showed that breakfast cereals gained patronage between 1991 and 1995 despite the markets' immaturity. France obtained the highest market share in value terms with a 23% growth in 1995 while Italy obtained the highest share of 20% in terms of acceptance and real value performance. The market growth in these countries was influenced by strong consumer demand for health-oriented and convenience products backed by the heavy promotion of cereals as nutritious products. The UK showed a steady market while the demand for cheaper products spurred market growth in Spain and Germany. Kellogg dominated the market followed by General Mills.
