Breakthrough to a different economic dimension
Article Abstract:
Some analysts have erroneously accused the Russian government of under selling state companies but they were sold according to the profits they were expected to make. The voucher investment funds scheme failed because control and supervision of the funds was inadequate. Wider ownership of the privatised companies is more likely to occur in the future. Some observers have considered privatisation deals have failed to increase investments but the economic conditions in Russia must be settled first. The decline in production was due to lack in demand and not the privatisation programme.

Russian privatisations find the road blocked
Article Abstract:
There are significant financial and political challenges facing the privatization programme in Russia. Indeed, the future of the programme must now be questioned. It is unlikely that gas monopoly Gazprom will be sold in the near future, and attempts to sell oil concern Rosneft have also encountered difficulties. However, it may still be possible to sell telecommunications company Svyazinvest, one of the most profitable in Russia.
