Britannic shares fall despite profit gain

Britannic PLC posted a 8.8% increase in operating profits for the 1998 year. The company also reported a 15% rise in its sales. However, Britannic's share price fell 8.4% on the London Exchange. An analyst said that the company's profits were at the "top end of expectations." Britannic's operating profits improved to 158.7 million pound sterling in 1998, from 145.l9 million pound sterling in 1997.

Swiss Life net drops as capital gains fall
