Bulls, bears and ivory towers
Article Abstract:
US stock prices have risen above levels traditionally seen as a measure of their value, and there have been arguments over how long this can last. There are debates as to whether the market is efficient, and the extent to which stock prices can be understood through the concept of the equity risk premium. Inflation also affects stock price valuations, for example through reducing bond yields. Stock prices may have risen for irrational reasons, and they could rise further.
