C-DAC BAGS ORDER FOR PARAM 10000 APPLICATION
Article Abstract:
The Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-Dac) has got its second major overseas contract to develop a total business solution on Param 10000, the supercomputer that it launched in March 1997. C-Dac has got a contract worth $780,000 from Man- Drapeau Research, a research and consultancy company of Singapore, for a data warehousing application along with related hardware. The contract includes software for financial modelling and simulation of forex markets. Cyberprofit, a game software for stock exchange users will also be included in the package. (khr)

TELK BAGS Rs8-CRORE ORDER
Article Abstract:
Transformers and Electricals Kerala Limited (TELK) has secured a Rs8.2 crore order from Asean Brown Boveri (ABB) to supply power transformers to a project in Vietnam. ABB had earlier secured the order from the Electricity Authority of Vietnam through its Sweden and Finland offices. The Electricity Authority of Vietnam plans to install the transformers at eight 132 KV sub-stations in different parts of Vietnam. The project is funded by the Asian Development Bank. (ag)

L&T BAGS Rs90-CR TUNNEL ORDER IN BHUTAN
Article Abstract:
The engineering, construction and contracts group of Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has secured a Rs90 crore worth contract in Bhutan. The contract involves building a 4.4-kilometre-long and 6.8- kilometre-wide head race tunnel. The tunnel is for the 1,020 mw hydro power project in the Tala area in Bhutan. L&T will also have to build a 975-metre-long and 7-metre-wide approach tunnel. It will have to complete the project by the year 2004. (ag)
