C and W is said to be planning takeover bid for Japan's IDC
Article Abstract:
Cable and Wireless PLC is seeking to acquire International Digital Communications Inc of Japan, according to sources close to Cable and Wireless. Cable and Wireless is said to be in discussions with IDC's major shareholders, offering about $230 million for their stakes in preparation for a complete takeover of IDC. Cable and Wireless already holds 17.6% of the Japanese telephone carrier. IDC's majority shareholders are Toyota Motor Corp, Itochu Corp, and AirTouch Communications.
