Article Abstract:
Chetak Spintex Ltd had mobilised Rs7.04 crore through a public issue in February 1996 to part finance its integration-cum- expansion project. It planned to set up a Poly Propylene Partially Oriented Yarn unit and increase capacity of its texturising unit to 990 tonnes per annum from 273 tonnes. The company posted a net profit of Rs0.51 crore on an income of Rs10.31 crore against projections of a net profit of Rs2.75 crore on an income of Rs13.44 crore in 1996-97. Its income decreased by 13 percent to Rs9.11 crore while net profit was Rs0.23 crore in 1997-98. (khr)

RYS CATERING, TOURISM CORPORATION GETS NOD
Article Abstract:
The Cabinet committee on economic affairs has given its approval for setting up an Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation. The government plans to set up the corporation with a capital base of Rs50 crore and paid-up capital of Rs20 crore. It plans to hold 100 percent equity initially but may consider divesting up to 49 percent equity to a private entity later. Many activities of the Railways, mainly related to catering, will be shifted to the corporation. (khr)

CONCOR GDR LIKELY TO BE PRICED AT STEEP DISCOUNT
Article Abstract:
The GDR issue of Container Corporation of India (Concor), which is scheduled to open in September 1998, may be priced at Rs325 per share. The company's scrip is currently being traded at Rs450 in the domestic market. The government stands to lose about Rs45 crore in notional losses for the 6 million shares that it proposes to divest in Concor. The government has already divested 23 percent earlier in the company.
