Cerebra Integrated Technologies Limited (CITL) was the first firm in India to introduce the concept of home computers. CITL manufactures servers and personal computers (PCs). It was incorporated in the 1992. CITL's has secured the ISO 9002 certification for its products. The certification covers production, installation and servicing of computers, accessories and software. The PCs produced by CITL are used in telephone exchanges all over India. CITL also produces CPU boards. It has set up a software development team for offering turnkey solutions to its clients. It plans to launch packaged software covering MIS and ERP/MRP II. Focus on the corporate sector and government organisations has helped CITL emerge as a multi-crore company. It plans to promote the Home-Office concept by introducing multimedia home PCs, Internet ready PCs. CITL also plans to introduce a new range of servers. (ag)

SPECIAL RETAIL STORES PLANNED FOR WIPRO, ACER HOME PCs

Wipro Acer Ltd plans to market both the Wipro and Acer range of personal computers (PCs) through specialised retail stores for the home market. Binary Systems of Bangalore, a channel partner of Wipro, will set up the first of these stores, to be called Binary Arcade. The store will stock the Wipro and Acer range of PCs, Epson and Hewlett-Packard printers along with UPS systems, modems and software. Wipro plans to set up about 12 such retail stores in 1998-99. WIPRO NET ZOOMS 140% IN Q3

Wipro Ltd recorded 140 percent increase in its net profit at Rs26.60 crore in the third quarter ended December 31, 1998 (Rs11.10 crore in the same period of 1997). Its net sales were Rs416.10 crore (Rs279.90 crore). Its other income was Rs7 crore (Rs5.70 crore). Its products and services business grew by 34 percent to Rs476.50 crore, sales and consumer care and lighting business by 16 percent at Rs299.40 crore.
