Cadbury's profit tumbles 5.6%

Cadbury Schweppes PLC posted a reduction of 5.6% in its pretax profits for the first-half of 1999. The company stated that it would receive an approximately $700 million (658.9 million euros) initial cash payment from the sale of businesses to Coca-Cola. Cadbury posted 252 million pound sterling (377.7 million euros) in pretax profits for the six months ending on June 20. During the same period in 1998, the company posted 267 million euros.
