Calgary, Canada's marketing industry, contrary to expectations, is enjoying very good times as reflected in the success of the Ad Rodeo held in the city on Mar 26, 1999. The number of attendees at the advertising awards reached 760, while the number of entries were more than 625, an increase of 30% from 1998. Calgary is also developing into an important center of interactive marketing because of its rich pool of talent with a skill transferable to the marketing industry.

Canada's top media buying companies
Article Abstract:
The list ranks the top 12 media buying agencies in Canada by projected 1999 billings. OMD Canada is ranked number one, with 1999 projected billings of C$960 million; followed by Interpublic Buying Consortium, with C$606 million; and Media Buying Services Ltd, with C$475 million. The companies in the list project combined 1999 billings of C$3.975 billion, up 8.6% from the previous year.
