Can-order policies for coordinated inventory replenishment with Erlang distributed times between ordering
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to analyze a continuous review inventory framework supporting Poisson demand. Lead items were assumed to be item-dependent positive constants while holding costs are charged for items in stock. A decomposition algorithm was developed to determine policy parameters for each item. Results showed that the algorithm did not always converge. Findings also showed that policies determined by the algorithm were not necessarily the best in the system.
