Grocers get ready for Wal-Mart threat
Article Abstract:
Canada's grocery chains have been spurred into a frenzy of marketing activities by the perceived threat that US-based Wal-Mart could expand its presence in Canada. Analysts said they are well-advised not to follow the example of Canadian department stores, which were caught unprepared when Wal-Mart entered Canada and acquired Woolco. Observers are now saying that Wal-Mart appears to be making a bigger commitment to food retailing in Canada.

Digital camera market developing
Article Abstract:
The decline in price combined with more sophisticated technology are making megapixel digital cameras and camcorders more attractive to buyers. The trend is attributable to the desire of some manufacturers to gain market share. Digital camera sales are therefore expected to increase to $39 million in 1999 from $26 million in 1998. There are also predictions that megapixel digital cameras will drop below $500 from a high of $2000.
