Air Canada and Canadian Airlines are bringing seat sales in their effort to increase passenger number. Air Canada's sale involves the "Welcome Back" promo, offering discounts of as much as 70% for flights within continental North America and Hawaii. The sale is also its way of resuming business after its flights were grounded due to the walkout staged by its pilots. Meanwhile, Canadian Airlines is also offering its own sale and will give its frequent flyer members 15,000 air miles for every three qualifying round trips from Sep. 1, 1998 to Nov. 30, 1998.

Online sellers have Christmas dreams
Article Abstract:
Retailers are pinning their hopes on the Web to increase their Christmas sales for 1999. This attitude is based on sales figures showing an increase in Web store traffic since Nov 1999 and the realization that consumers might want to turn to online shopping to avoid crowding at malls and the cold winter blasts of outdoor shopping. Also, the 1999 holiday season has come to be viewed as the true test of the wonders of e- commerce.
