Article Abstract:
A study from JP Morgan shows that US companies now enjoy a lower cost of capital than Japanese companies. The US has pointed to various reasons that contributed to lower capital costs in Japan. But analysis reveals that there has been very little difference between capital costs in Japan and the US.

The assumption that US industries are no longer competitive is wrong. The US is a world leader in high technology industries, entertainment, service industries, and manufacturing. A low level of investment is the most significant threat to competitiveness.
