Carat adds to Asian infiltration
Article Abstract:
Aegis PLC has acquired 75% of Tokyo, Japan-based independent media specialist Strategic Planners International in August 2000. The UK-based holding company, which owns media specialist Carat, purchased the Tokyo- based media specialist as part of its strategy of maintaining a stranglehold in the Asian market. Aegis, which will rename the Tokyo company as Carat SPI, is also looking at other markets in Asia such as Indonesia and Korea.

Euro RSCG aligns with MindShare
Article Abstract:
Euro RSCG Partnership Greater China is forming an alliance with MindShare Hong Kong to form a media planning and buying concern, which will be called Motivator. The alliance will specifically the Hong Kong and Taiwan market, but will eventually work to cover the Chinese market. MindShare sees the alliance as a chance to further establish its media specialist capabilities in Hong Kong as it aims to outperform its rivals.

Daiko could be slow to change under IPG
Article Abstract:
Interpublic plans to acquire 20% of Japan's fifth-largest advertising agency, Daiko Inc. This is expected to bring its Lowe Lintas and Partners Worldwide network to well-established position in Japan's advertising industry. Daiko will be aligned with Lowe Lintas, providing it its third platform in Japan. The acquisition is expected to consolidate IPG's position as the leading foreign agency group in Japan.
